Gears 5 is one of my most anticipated games coming up. I loved Gears of War 4, and I can’t wait to see where Kait Diaz’s story goes next. It seems Microsoft and The Coalition agree, since that’s what they are giving fans. In Gears 5, players get to explore more of Kait and her family’s past and what their mysterious connection with the ‘Horde’ entails. Kait and Del embark on a journey north guided by mysterious visions that Kait has been experiencing.
Gears 5 was announced at last year’s E3 with a beautiful cinematic trailer, but that was all we have heard. This year’s presentation lacked the extensive cinematics, but made up for it with sweet, sweet details and information. In addition to the main campaign, Gears 5 will also be getting a brand new co-op mode called “Escape” where you and two friends will need to battle through hordes of Locust hives.
One of the coolest announcements from this conference has to be that if you pre-order the game or play it within the first week, you will get exclusive in-game content from Terminator: Dark Fate. Sarah Connor and the T-800 Endoskeleton will be playable in-game!Preview (opens in a new window) Most ambitious crossover ever? I think it is!
Additionally, on July 17th, The Coalition will be testing out the new Versus multiplayer mode, Arcade, that players will get to test out in an effort to help weed out any lingering bugs. Horde mode will be tested out on August 5th.
Gears 5 will be available to play on September 10th on Xbox One and PC. Those who order the Gears 5 Ultimate Edition or own the Xbox Gamepass Ultimate Edition, you can hop in and blast some locusts four whole days early.
