The last time we saw Peter Parker was just few months ago at the funeral for Tony Stark, aka Iron Man. Stark courageously sacrificed his life for the universe, and defeated Thanos. With Iron Man, Black Widow, and Captain America (who met a much happier fate) now removed from the Avengers, someone needs to take on the role of head superhero. Is our “Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” up for the task? That is the topic at hand in Spider-Man: Far From Home.
On top of being the best live-action Spider-Man film to date, it not only has plenty for MCU fans to enjoy, but gives nods to longtime comic readers. While there are so many great Spider-Man: Far From Home Easter eggs to discover, here are 9 you won’t want to miss.
1Marvel Zombies
As Spider-Man is traveling through illusions set up by drones, he comes face-to-face with the tombstone of Tony Stark. Suddenly, a terrifying zombified Stark lunges from the grave, which readers of Marvel Zombies will find very familiar. The limited series, which launched in 2005, is set on Earth-2149 and is exactly how it sounds- the Marvel Universe turns into zombies. Could this nod mean that a Marvel Zombies film is perhaps on the horizon? While a live-action film may be a bit difficult to pull off, the series at least deserves an animated film. One can hope.
2J. Jonah Jameson & The Daily Bugle
The mid-credits scenes were a huge shock for audiences, as The Daily Bugle’s J. Jonah Jameson came on screen with video capture from Quentin Beck/Mysterio’s (Jake Gyllenhaal) last moments. The video implicates Spider-Man in Mysterio’s atrocities and even outs Spider-Man’s real identity. Not only do we get Jameson introduced into the MCU, but he was played by none other than J.K. Simmons, who also took on the role in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy. Looks like the “Public Menace” is back!

3Peter’s ‘BFP’ Suitcase
While Peter Parker’s Uncle Ben is hardly a focus in the newer films, Spider-Man: Far From Home pays tribute in a subtle, yet sweet way. The vintage-looking suitcase Parker takes to Europe has the initials “BFP” embroidered, for Benjamin Franklin Parker. Awww.
4Hydro-Man Enters the MCU
While fans originally believed Spider-Man would be taking on Hydro-Man himself after seeing a trailer, this wasn’t actually the case. However, the character is now officially in the MCU, as Morris Bench, aka Hydro-Man, was name-dropped by Peter’s classmates while reading an article. Could this mean that the character has a future in the MCU?

5Ned Leeds and Betty Brant
This is not the first time Spider-Man comic readers have been introduced to Ned and Betty. The couple, who experience a short yet sickly sweet relationship in Spider-Man: Far From Home, may have called it quits in the film, but are married in the comics. Betty actually has quite an interesting back story in the comics as Peter Parker’s first love and J. Jonah Jameson’s secretary. Perhaps the MCU’s most nauseating couple will give it another go.
6ASM 212
During this scene featuring Ned and Betty, the boat behind them has “ASM 212” on the side. This is a reference to Amazing Spider-Man #212, the comic that Hydro-Man first appeared in back in 1981. The boat is seen shortly before the first Elemental- water- hits the area.
7Spider-Man PS4 Selfies
As the film ends, we see Spider-Man return to his native New York City, swinging from his webs over the streets and buildings. As a fun shout-out to Insomniac Games’ successful PlayStation 4 game, Marvel’s Spider-Man, we see Spidey take a moment to snap selfies in the same angles and poses as featured in the game.

8Hotel De Matteis
As Peter’s class arrives in Venice, their boat pulls up to their temporary hotel, the Hotel De Matteis. The name is a tribute to J. M. DeMatteis, a long-time comic writer who has written issues for The Amazing Spider-Man, The Avengers, Doctor Strange, X-Men, and many more titles for Marvel, DC Comics, Dark Horse, and other labels throughout his career.
9Venetian Street Names

Another way the film pays tribute are with Venetian street names. If you look carefully, you can spot signs for “Calle Sterno” for Roger Stern, “Calle Slotto” for Dan Slott, “Calle Bendiso” for Brian Michael Bendis, “Calle Michelinio” for David Michelinie, and “Calle G. Convayo” for Gerry Conway. All five men are legendary comic writers and have contributed important stories to the Spider-Man universe.
