Bigfoot has been rather elusive over the past several decades, but although the legendary creature has yet to be captured, sightings are still being reported all across the United States. The latest such incident is perhaps a bit more serious than most, as federal officials are getting involved after a man fired a gun at Mammoth Cave National Park, claiming to have seen Bigfoot.
As reported by ABC, camper Brad Ginn and his girlfriend were camping in the park when they were awakened by a man and his son in the middle of the night. The father claimed they were investigating strange noises he had been hearing in the darkness. According to Ginn, he heard a gunshot minutes later, with the father returning to say he had shot at Bigfoot when he saw the sasquatch emerging from the forest. Ginn and his girlfriend then left the campground and reported the incident to authorities.
Because there’s not much else known about the incident, the speculation can now begin. Did the man really hear and see Bigfoot in the Kentucky campground? If so, did he injure the mythical creature when he shot at it? Was the sasquatch finally emerging from its hiding spot to make peace with humans, only to be met with gunfire? Did we just totally screw up the one chance we had to bridge the gap between our species and co-exist without the Bigfoot people constantly living in hiding?
On the other side of the equation, it’s perhaps easier to instead write off the claim by saying the man is either insane or inebriated, if not a combination of both. In any case, firing a gun in the middle of the night in a public campground is very dangerous and completely unacceptable. Fortunately, no humans were hurt – though we can’t say the same for poor Bigfoot.
