Horror movie star Bill Moseley will very soon reprise the role of Otis Firefly once again in Rob Zombie’s 3 from Hell, but the actor is still holding out hope for revisiting another one of his legendary characters. In Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, Moseley played the demented Chop Top, a sadistic murderer with an exposed metal plate on his skull. As Leatherface’s brother and a member of the cannibalistic Sawyer family, Chop Top is a fan favorite character and one of the most memorable horror movie villains of the ’80s.
Speaking with ComicBook.com, Moseley recently revealed he would love to reprise the role of Chop Top in another Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie if only given the opportunity. Here’s what the actor said when asked about which characters from his career he’d like to play again.
“Well, always Chop Top, absolutely, from Chainsaw 2. I would love to have done that character, I came close when I did Texas Chainsaw 3D a couple of years ago. I got the call from the producer of that movie saying we want you to play Drayton Sawyer. And I’m just thinking, ‘Well that’s like asking Moe to come back and play Curly. Or Curly to come back and play Moe, I guess is more accurate.”
If you ask me, Moseley made an awesome Drayton Sawyer in Texas Chainsaw 3D, and his performance was an excellent homage to original actor Jim Siedow. It was also a nice way of including the fan favorite star from the franchise for a special cameo, even if he was playing a different character. This also left the door open for Marilyn Burns and Gunnar Hansen from the original film to come back as well, with each cast in new roles.
Still, seeing Moseley back as the legendary antagonist he portrayed in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 would undeniably be awesome. Because the timelines in the franchise are so jumbled by this point anyway, it wouldn’t be weird to see a new movie made which serves as a sequel to the second TCM movie. Fans would definitely be on board and Moseley clearly is as well, so hopefully someone in Hollywood is able to make it happen.
