‘Locke & Key’ TV Series Finally Hits Netflix in February

Locke and Key | Netflix

The first poster and the official premiere date for the TV series adaptation of Locke & Key has finally been revealed. Based on the popular Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez comic book series of the same name, the Locke & Key TV series has spent a few years languishing in development hell with a couple of false starts. Finally finding its official home at Netflix, the series will be available to watch on the streaming service starting on Feb. 7, 2020, as revealed on the official poster.

Locke & Key follows three siblings and their mother moving into their ancestral home, Keyhouse, after the unexplained death of their father. The cast includes Jackson Robert Scott as Bode Locke, Connor Jessup as Tyler Locke, Emilia Jones as Kinsey Locke, and Darby Stanchfield as Nina Locke. Also starring in the series are Sherri Saum, Griffin Gluck, Petrice Jones, and Laysla De Oliveira. Carlton Cuse, Aron Eli Coleite, and Meredith Averill developed the series for Netflix.

Attempts to turn Locke & Key into a TV series go as far back as 2010 when a pilot was developed for Fox. After the network passed on a full series order, it nearly found a home at Hulu when the streamer put in an order for a pilot for their own Locke & Key series. As with the Fox pilot before it, Hulu ultimately declined to take on a full series, opening the door for Netflix to swoop in and bring Locke & Key to the red-and-white streaming giant.
