‘The Cuphead Show!’ Animated Series Is Coming to Netflix

Cuphead (along with his trusty brother Mugman) is taking the leap from video game to TV when The Cuphead Show! lands on Netflix. The show was announced today and will be an animated series based on the insanely popular video game from Studio MDHR. The show comes from a partnership between Netflix and King Features Syndicate.

The Cuphead Show! will have an animation style naturally inspired by the classic 1930’s Fleischer style cartoons, and will expand on the lore of the characters and world featured in Cuphead. The show will be a character-driven comedy that follows the two brothers through their unique adventures full of temptation and impulse.

Cuphead creators, Chad and Jared Moldenhauer, will serve as Executive Producers for Studio MDHR. The show will be produced by Netflix Animation with Emmy and Annie Award-winning producer, Dave Wasson (Mickey Mouse Shorts) as Executive Producer and Cosmo Segurson (Rocko’s Modern Life) as co-executive producer.

Cuphead has already had an immensely impressive track record thus far with over 4 million copies sold worldwide and over 20 major award wins under their belt including Special Achievement in Animation at the 45th Annual Annie Awards, Xbox One’s Game of the Year, a BAFTA Games award for Music, and a trio of statues at the 2017 Game Awards for Best Debut. The game has been praised for just about everything; from its beautiful animation to its award-winning soundtrack that features almost 3 hours of original music spanning multiple genres.

King Features previously announced their long-term strategy for building character franchises for multiple platforms with The Cuphead Show! being the first of many they plan on bringing to syndication.
