Hanukkah | My Way Pictures

The horror world is still reeling from the loss of Sid Haig, who was best known to fans of the genre as Captain Spaulding from the Rob Zombie movies House of 1000 CorpsesThe Devil’s Rejects, and 3 from Hell. Sadly, Haig passed away just days after the release of 3 from Hell in September, though he managed to film a couple of other roles prior to his death. One will be seen in the new holiday horror film Hanukkah, which posthumously features Haig in a starring role.

Hanukkah tells the story of a religious murderer targeting a group of Jewish teens, and embracing their religion seems to be the only way to survive the holiday. Throwing back to old-school horror films, the movie will be released on VHS this month following its limited theatrical release on Dec. 13. The tape offered for sale are available in yellow, blue, or black, though each will only be selling 100 copies. A Blu-ray release will then follow this coming February.

Another big screen icon who we lost this year also appears in the film, as Hanukkah will star the late Dick Miller (GremlinsThe TerminatorChopping Mall) alongside Haig. The rest of the cast includes such names as Charles Fleischer (Who Framed Roger Rabbit), P.J. Soles (Halloween), Caroline Williams (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), and Sadie Katz (Wrong Turn 6). The film is written and directed by Eben McGarr.

Hanukkah will be showing in select theaters starting on Dec. 13, followed by the VHS released on Dec. 20 and the Blu-ray release on Feb. 11, 2020. You can find out more and pre-order a copy over at the official website, and you can check out the official trailer for Hanukkah below!

Synopsis: A group of Jewish young adults are preparing for the holidays but are in for a Festival of Frights. With the help of a wise Rabbi, they deduce that they are being targeted because they have violated Judaic law, and that their only chance of survival is to embrace their faith.
