It looks like more Demolition Man is on the way, as Sylvester Stallone has confirmed that work has already begun on Demolition Man 2. During his time in quarantine, Stallone has been answering fan questions on his Instagram account. One fan directly asked if there’s a chance we will ever see a Demolition Man 2 finally happen, and Stallone revealed that the process of making the sequel has already begun.
“I think there is,” Stallone says of the sequel. “We’re working on it right now with Warner Bros. and it’s looking fantastic. So, that should come out, that’s going to happen.”
Released in 1993, Demolition Man was directed by Marco Brambilla and written by the team of Daniel Waters, Robert Reneau, and Peter M. Lenkov. Set in the year 2032, the film follows a heroic police officer (Stallone) and a criminal mastermind (Wesley Snipes) traversing to the future from the year 1996 by way of cryogenically freezing themselves. Although the world around them has completely changed, the officer’s mission to take down the crime lord with the help of a future cop (Sandra Bullock) remains the same.
Stallone clearly has no issues with revisiting some of his most popular characters from the past. After leading six feature films as Rocky Balboa in the Rocky series, Stallone has since reprised the role two more times for Michael B. Jordan’s Creed movies. Meanwhile, Rambo: Last Blood just came out last year as well. This has left fans wondering who else we might see Stallone turn to as far as reprising roles from the past, and Demolition Man has been one people have asked about a lot.
