Many companies took to social media on Tuesday (#BlackOutTuesday) to show support for the black community amid international protests following the murder of George Floyd. While some corporate messages were more subdued, other companies, such as Ben & Jerry’s and LEGO, made memorable statements and contributions.
In a post via Twitter, LEGO pledged $4 million to “organizations dedicated to supporting black children and educating all children about racial equality.” You can read their full statement below:

In addition to the sizeable donation, news broke via the trade website The Toy Book that the brick building company was taking it a step further by pausing some advertising on certain sets. The included LEGO sets are those which feature police officers, criminals, and firefighters, as well as the LEGO Architecture set of The White House, which has yet to be released. Other sets listed are Downtown Fire Brigade, Police Station, Donut Shop Opening, Police Dog Unit, Sky Police Air Base, Fire Station, Fire Plane, Police Monster Truck Heist, Dock Side Fire, Patrol Car, Mobile Command Center, and more.
First reports circulating had claimed that LEGO would pull these sets entirely, however further company statements have clarified that it is a pause in advertising.
We’ve seen incorrect reports saying we’ve removed some LEGO sets from sale. To be clear, that is not the case and reports otherwise are false. Our intention was to temporarily pause digital advertising in response to events in the US. We hope this clears things up. ♥️
