‘Ghostbusters’ Cast Reunites for ‘Reunited Apart’

Josh Gad is back at it with his Reunited Apart web-series on YouTube, bringing back several cast members from the original Ghostbusters movies along with the Reitmans for a special reunion. Previously, Gad has brought together amazing cast reunions for other classic films like The Goonies, Back to the Future, and The Lord of the Rings. It was a matter of time before he got to Ghostbusters, and the result is a glorious and hilariously entertaining video that every fan needs to see.

This reunion was put together for the benefit of the Equal Justice Initiative organization, following Barefoot Wine’s $100,000 donation last week. Their goal is to end mass incarceration and excessive punishment in the U.S., and to challenge racial and economic justice and protect the most basic human rights for the most vulnerable people in American society. You can read more about the organization and donate at the official website.

You can watch the special Ghostbusters edition of Reunited Apart below!

Featured in the reunion are original cast members Ernie Hudson (Winston Zeddemore), Dan Aykroyd (Ray Stantz), Bill Murray (Peter Venkman), Annie Potts (Janine Melnitz), and Sigourney Weaver (Dana Barrett). Ivan Reitman, who directed the original two Ghostbusters movies, also appears along with his son, Jason Reitman – director of the upcoming sequel, Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Ray Parker Jr., who performed the iconic theme song, also appears in the video to do a live rendition of the music. Ghostbusters superfans like Kumail Nanjiani also make an appearance in the special to speak about their fandom of the franchise.

One name that’s noticeably missing here is Rick Moranis, who played Louis Tully in the original Ghostbusters films. It had seemed unlikely Moranis would be featured in the reunion, as he declined opportunities to cameo in Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters: Answer the Call along with Jason Reitman’s upcoming sequel. For whatever reason, Moranis seems to have moved on from Ghostbusters, but Ivan Reitman shares the story of how he was cast in the Reunited Apart special.

The cast members featured in the Reunited Apart special will all be reprising their classic roles for Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Although it was originally supposed to premiere in July, the movie has since been pushed back to March 5, 2021 because of the coronavirus causing movie theater shutdowns across the world. For now, you can watch the official trailer for the upcoming sequel below.
