Netflix Cancels ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’

That’s a wrap for Sabrina on Netflix, as Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will conclude at the end of the show’s upcoming “Part Four.” Originally produced as a Riverdale spinoff for The CW, the series moved to Netflix with a 20-episode order for its first two seasons. The show thrived on the streaming service, and based on its popularity and critical acclaim, it was later given another double-season order for Part Three and the upcoming Part Four. Now, it has been announced that Part Four will be the end of the show.

In a statement, showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa addressed the show’s cancellation. “Working on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has been an incredible honor from day one,” Aguirre-Sacasa says. “The cast, beginning with Kiernan as everyone’s favorite teen witch, has been an absolute joy. I am beyond thankful to the crew, writers, editors, assistants, and everyone for pouring so much love into this dark dream of a show. I’m also grateful to our partners at Netflix, Warner Bros., Berlanti Television and Archie Comics for letting us tell the story we wanted to tell, the way we wanted to tell it. We can’t wait for everyone to see part four.”

The final episodes of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will premiere on Netflix sometime this year with an exact release date yet to be announced. In the meantime, you can check out the previous three seasons, or “parts,” which are all streaming on Netflix. As the streamer has also recently decided to cancel other popular shows like Ozark and Dead to Me, it would seem that no Netflix Original is safe. Meanwhile, Aguirre-Sacasa will still have a home on The CW, where Riverdale continues to thrive ahead of its return to the network for Season 5 in 2021.
