This weekend, retro gaming enthusiast and homebrew developer for the Nintendo Entertainment System Kevin Hanley, will be leading a 50+ hour classic video game Twitch livestream to raise funds for the Organization for Autism Research (OAR).
Donors will have the opportunity to determine the line-up of games to be played. In addition to choosing from the official 776 games North American catalog for the formative gaming system, they can also suggest hacks, imports, and homebrews, giving even the most experienced patrons the opportunity to enjoy exposure to new content.
“Many people in my life have family or friends who are on the spectrum,” Hanley explains. “Any money we can raise toward the research for finding new ways to improve the lives of those living with the disorder is a win.”
According to their website, The Organization for Autism Research is a national non-profit organization formed and led by relatives of children, teens, and adults with autism spectrum disorders. OAR’s mission is to apply research to the challenges of autism. OAR does this by
funding research related to intervention and quality of life, and providing evidence-based resources that help individuals, families, and professionals in the autism community find answers to their immediate and urgent questions.
The livestream will begin broadcasting at 12:00PM EST. For more information, go to https://www.twitch.tv/nesspectrummarathon.
