Casey Becker is alive and well in a new parody video from The Drew Barrymore Show. In the original Scream movie, Barrymore famously portrayed Casey, a teenage horror fan who becomes one of Ghostface’s very first victims after incorrectly answering a question about Friday the 13th. The death scene is iconic and one of Barrymore’s most well-known moments in film, and 24 years later, she’s slipping right back into the role. You can check it out below!
What would life have been like for Casey if she had survived Scream? That’s the question Barrymore wanted to answer in her new parody video. Wearing a blonde wig with Casey’s hairstyle, Barrymore struts down the street as Ghostface attempts to get ahold of her via cell phone. The older Casey ignores his texts and calls, much to the murderer’s detriment, as it appears he just can’t kill her without first asking her about scary movies.
Although nearly a quarter-century has passed, you wouldn’t be able to tell just by looking at the video. Barrymore really hasn’t changed much since 1996, as a wig is all it takes to have her looking exactly like she did when she played a teenage murder victim. Probably no horror fan ever thought we’d see such a sight, and it’s truly a nostalgic treat to see Barrymore kinda-sorta play Casey once again.
Unfortunately, Casey is very much dead in the Scream movie series, which is still going strong with a new installment on the way. While Barrymore won’t be in the flick, Scream 5 will be bringing back Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, and Roger L. Jackson as the voice of Ghostface. The film comes out in theaters on Jan. 14, 2022.
You can catch The Drew Barrymore Show airing weekdays on CBS.
