This has been a wild year for many, and to top it all off– Halloween 2020 looks a whole lot different. Although more people are opting to stay in their homes, it doesn’t mean the spooky holiday is cancelled. After all, “This is a way of life!” So, with that mindset, here are 8 ways to celebrate Halloween…at home!

Shudder just announced a FREE day-long virtual Halloween event that promises to be a good time. ShudderFest will include:

  • Virtual hang out with Tony Todd (Candyman) and Robert Englund (A Nightmare on Elm Street).
  • A conversation between the stars and creators of 2020’s Host and the makers of 1999’s The Blair Witch Project.
  • A panel of musicians including Bright Light Bright Light and Starcrawler’s Arrow De Wilde.
  • Scary Story Time with Scare Me’s Josh Ruben and friends.
  • A special recording of The Kingcast podcast with Creepshow showrunner Greg Nicotero.
  • A one-time secret screening of a future Shudder Original film that won’t be available until 2021.

2Visit the Real American Horror Story Murder House 

American Horror Story‘ | FX

The first season of the TV horror anthology show American Horror Story introduced us to the iconic “Murder House.” The owners of the real property are opening its doors for the first time ever and hosting a virtual event. It will feature a 24-hour live stream, Exorcist Bishop James Long, psychics, paranormal investigators, historians, tarot readings, and more.

3Join the Scream & Stream Halloween Watch Party

Scream & Stream, Scener’s star-studded Halloween watch party lineup, allows everyone to watch and connect live with cast members, directors, writers, fans and more. The fun starts Thursday, October 29, at 4:00 p.m. PDT. Programming highlights include:

  •  A screening of Hocus Pocus with Mick Garris live over video chat. Fans can learn the inspiration and creative mindset behind the film with special shoutouts to fans. Presented by Fangoria.
  • RiffTrax hosts Ghosthouse with hilarious video commentary over the film’s young girl and killer clown doll.
  • Alamo Drafthouse takes their witty commentary event, Master Pancake, virtual with Suspiria.
  • Reality TV drag queen star, Louisiana Purchase, hosts live watch party and drag show for Satanis, a wild exposé on proto-goths, midnight maniacs, and daytime Draculas. Presented by Fantastic Fest.
  • Comic-Con hosts double-feature watch party for Poltergeist and Winchester.
  • Live horror film In the Shadow it Waits hosted by writer and director Michael Beets with live Q&A.

4Virtual Frights

Halloween Horror Nights

Virtual Frights is a curated digital journey through the best and biggest Halloween haunts of the past and present, debuting first with 5 years of frights from Universal Orlando’s acclaimed “Halloween Horror Nights” event. 5Shocktober

Located in Leesburg, Virginia, Shocktober is said to be one of the best haunted attraction spots in the country. While it may be closed for 2020, those interested can still get a good scare. You can virtually walk through Carlheim Manor with celebrity guests, or do an in-depth first-person walkthrough to explore for yourself. One of the best parts: Shocktober is an award-winning fundraiser for the nonprofit, The Arc of Loudoun, which serves people with disabilities and their families. 6Host a Halloween Party on Zoom

Shake off the lockdown blues with friends and family…on Zoom. Pick a playlist or movie list, choose a theme, send a digital invite, and have that Halloween party. You can even mix it up with drinking games (Drink When comes in handy!), a murder mystery, and a costume contest. 7Host a Virtual Round of an Adult Card Game
