Along with the success of the first two seasons of Shudder’s original anthology horror series Creepshow, season 3 was greenlit last year, and showrunner Greg Nicotero finally has a release date for us. The third season will debut on Thursday, September 23rd, 2021.
During this year’s Comic-Con@Home 2021 event, Nicotero said “The most fun about Creepshow is every episode is very different. I wrote a bunch of them and directed a lot of them. Rusty Cundieff (Tales from the Hood) directed, John Harrison (Tales from the Darkside) directed, Joe Lynch (Mayhem) directed. I had all the same people that did season two come back.” Nicotero also said an episode would be based on Joe Hill’s short story Mums, from his book Full Throttle. Joe Hill’s father, Stephen King, wrote and starred in the original 1982 horror anthology film directed by George A. Romero. Joe Hill also had a small role in the film’s wraparound segments.

New cast members have also been announced for the series’ third season, including Michael Rooker (Guardians of the Galaxy, Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer), James Remar (Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, Dexter), Reid Scott (Venom), and Johnathon Schaech (Prom Night, Ray Donovan).
In discussing a specific episode, the newly titled “Queen Bee,” Nicotero said “It’s sort of a Beyonce-type story.” The story, written by Erik Sandoval and Michael Rousselet, two writers from season two, involves people who admire a singer, but are also controlled by her, because she’s an alien. “It’s kind of that sort of fun scenario.”
September is right around the corner, but until then, seasons one and two of Creepshow are now streaming on Shudder.
