Game and toy company Ravensburger has announced two new horror-themed boards games to release this October. The first being Horrified: American Monsters, a new version of Horrified, the extremely successful co-op monster-slaying game Ravensburger released in 2019.
Where the original Horrified had players teaming up to kill off Universal Monsters like Dracula, Wolfman, and the Creature from the Black Lagoon, American Monsters will feature cryptids popular only in the Americas. There will be an entire new cast of playable characters with unique talents. The monsters include Bigfoot, the Jersey Devil, Mothman, Chupacabra, the Banshee of the Badlands, and the Ozark Howler. Each monster has its own puzzle that one-to-five players must work together to solve in order to defeat it. Horrified: American Monsters will release as a Target exclusive and will sell for $34.99.

Echoes: An Audio Mystery Game is also releasing in America this fall, and will have scenarios that involve deduction and tiles, as well as use a free mobile app to guide players through the storyline. Players will use their phones to interact with illustrated cards, triggering sounds and images. The app has five modes– Atmosphere, Listening, Solve, Support, and Tutorial. The players must use the clues given through their phones to help solve the mysteries of the scenarios.
The two launch scenarios are “echoes: The Dancer,” where players will try to solve the mystery of a Scottish haunted mansion, and “echoes: The Cocktail,” where players must work together to uncover a mobster mystery in a New York speakeasy. Ravensburger has said that fans of true crime podcasts, whodunnits, and escape rooms will love the Echoes scenarios. Each scenario will take roughly 60 minutes to play, allow replay, and tentatively will cost $9.99 each.
