The official synopsis reads, “Hail to the king, Baby! Inspired by the 1981 classic’s cult following, Hail to the Deadites is an endearing documentary about the fans of the Evil Dead franchise, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2021. The documentary features interviews with Evil Dead franchise cast members including Bruce Campbell, Ted Raimi, Betsy Baker, Theresa Tilly, Ellen Sandweiss, Richard Demanincor, Tom Sullivan, Dan Hicks, Kassie Wesley Depaiva, Sarah Berry, Rick Domeier & Bill Moseley.
In 1981, Sam Raimi’s The Evil Dead kicked off the movie series, launching a horror franchise that’s just as popular today as it’s ever been. Its two movie sequels, Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn and Army of Darkness, are both enjoyable in their own ways, and all three movies have their own fans thinking of that one as the favorite. Of course, watching them together as a trilogy was always a big part of the fun.

We were blessed with the return of Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams with the Starz series Ash vs. Evil Dead. While most of us were hoping the fantastic show would continue beyond the three seasons it was given, it was still a lot more footage we had gotten than if they had gone with the previous plan of developing a fourth movie. The final season also allowed for Ash’s story to end in a satisfactory way, as unfortunate as it might be that we won’t see him again.
Relive the entire saga through the point of view of the fans, along with the franchise’s cast and crew, by watching Hail to the Deadites on Shudder.
