Things are starting to come together for one of Mike Flanagan’s next big Netflix productions, as his adaptation of Edgar Allen Poe’s The Fall of the House of Usher begins principal photography in just a few weeks. Flanagan has already teamed up with Netflix for three incredibly popular projects, The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, and Midnight Mass. Flanagan will also be creating an adaption of Christopher Pike’s The Midnight Club, which has a 2022 release date.

From Mike Flanagan’s own Twitter account, he announced some of the leading cast for his upcoming Poe adaptation. The two main leads will be Frank Langella (Frost/Nixon, Masters of the Universe) and Flanagan familiar face Carla Gugino (Gerald’s Game, The Haunting of Hill House). Flanagan also announced that the cast would be joined by Oscar-nominated actress Mary McDonnell (Dances with Wolves, Battlestar Galactica), Mark Hamill (Star Wars), and Carl Lumbly (Men of Honor, Doctor Sleep).
Though no official release date has been released, Flanagan did say that more amazing cast announcements will be released in the upcoming days. Needless to say, acting talent of this level has us stoked for The Fall of the House of Usher.

The Fall of the House of Usher was previously adapted for film in 1960 by director Roger Corman and writer Richard Matheson, titled House of Usher. It starred Vincent Price, Mark Damon, Myrna Fahey, and Harry Ellerbe. You can check out the original trailer for the film here.
