Horror fans have watched as the Friday the 13th, Leprechaun, and even Hellraiser franchises sent their iconic villains into the deep realms of space. While we thought this chapter of horror cinema had come to an end, it seems there is more to come with Amityville in Space. But, of course, this will not be an official chapter in the Amityville franchise.

Pack your bags for a frightening intergalactic stay at Amityville. The ultimate battle against the Amityville curse begins after the infamous murder house is exorcised from Earth and reappears in outer space via a black hole in Amityville in Space.

The film is directed by Mark Polonia (Sharkula). It stars Titus Himmelberger (Jurassic Shark 2: Aquapocalypse, Shark Encounters of the Third Kind), Cassandra Hayes (Invasion of the Empire of the Apes, Dune World), Tim Hatch (Sister Krampus, Return to Splatter Farm), Ryan Dalton, and Jeff Kirkendall (Babysitter Massacre: Heavy Metal, Amityville Island).

The film releases this July from Wild Eye Releasing. You can check out the new trailer below!

Since the release of The Amityville Horror in 1979, the official franchise has spawned nine follow-up films and a 2005 remake. The franchise has moved on from its more serious tone seen in The Amityville Horror and Amityville II: The Possession (1982), the latter of which being the darkest title in the series. Both of these films are notable for being loosely based on actual events — the real-life Lutz family in the first film and the DeFeo family in Amityville II.

Meanwhile, subsequent storylines include family hauntings due to everyday items from the house being sold, such as a lamp and clock. While the franchise itself has spiraled into more hokey storylines, over twenty non-franchise films have been released that take the silliness even further. These films involve scarecrows, vampires, cults, witches, and more.
