The Munsters (Universal Pictures)

The Munsters has just gotten its latest cast member officially announced. Rob Zombie, who’s writing and directing the reboot of the classic comedy series, has revealed a new image featuring Cassandra “Elvira” Peterson in character looking far unlike the Mistress of the Dark. She plays a real estate agent which should be a fun role to see the legendary horror host in.

On Instagram, Zombie wrote: “ATTENTION CASTING NEWS! Straight from the set of THE MUNSTERS is your first look at Barbara Carr, the #1 real estate agent in all of Mockingbird Heights. Barbara is played by none other the CASSANDRA PETERSON. Yes, the Mistress of the Dark has joined the cast of THE MUNSTERS. Stay tuned for more exciting news to come.”

The main cast of The Munsters includes Jeff Daniel Phillips as Herman, Sheri Moon Zombie as Lily, and Dan Roebuck as Grandpa. Also featured are Richard Brake as Dr. Wolfgang, Sylvester McCoy as Igor, Catherine Schell as Zoya Krupp, and Jorge Garcia as Floop. It hasn’t been revealed who will be playing Eddie and Marilyn.

“I love how Rob was just showing glimpses of their progress,” Dan Roebuck told us at HGL of Zombie’s attention to detail on the Munsters set. “Then I was just blown away by what they’d done. Based on the photo he put out, you know I was able to stand in front of that house and it was great. It’s as close to the original house it could ever be.”

He added, “That street used to be on the Universal backlot, but it was moved to make way for Amblin Entertainment. The house has been moved and then built over numerous times; he started from scratch and it was done perfectly, just perfection. That house should give you an idea of the detail with which this brilliant director is approaching the material.”

The Munsters does not have a release date but it will premiere sometime in 2022 on Peacock and in theaters.
