Destry Allyn Spielberg - Rosie

Destry Allyn Spielberg, filmmaker and daughter of one of the biggest directors in Hollywood history, Steven Spielberg, will be making her feature film directorial debut in the horror genre, as her first movie begins filming in April.

Spielberg was originally going to debut with Four Assassins (and a Funeral), a mystery film more in line with her previously-directed short films. That film will now release after her horror movie, titled Please Don’t Feed the Children.

Spielberg’s horror film is written by Paul Bertino, and the lead role will be played by Michelle Dockery of Downton Abbey fame. The film is produced by Perry Street Films.

Destry Allyn Spielberg has had a number of roles as an actress, including in her own short films, and in a small supporting role in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Licorice Pizza. Spielberg had come under fire in recent debates about nepotism in Hollywood, to which she acknowledged and refuted from her Twitter account. She also won Best Thriller for her short film Let Me Go the Right Way at the City of Angels Women’s Festival in 2022, showing the world that she’s fully capable of holding her own as a filmmaker.

The IMDB synopsis of Please Don’t Feed the Children reads:

A gang of orphans travels to the south in quest of a new life after a viral outbreak decimates the adult population of the nation, only to find themselves at the mercy of a psychotic woman who is hiding a perilous secret.

According to Deadline, Spielberg had this to say about her new horror film:

“I am so grateful to have the opportunity to bring this story to the screen with such a collaborative and inspirational team. This picture is so much more than just a horror film. It’s a dream come true to work with a talent such as Michelle Dockery. I am excited to elevate the genre with our incredible cast and crew.”

No information has been announced about the release date of the film, or its supporting cast members, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated as more information becomes available.
