Sony’s PlayStation Showcase ended the day with an extensive gameplay trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. We got an impressive look at the highly-anticipated upcoming title from Insomniac Games, including the game’s two new villains, a certain new suit for Peter Parker, as well as the return of Miles Morales.
The trailer started with a look at one of the game’s big bads, Kraven the Hunter, looking for a new hunting ground: New York City. We get a time jump, and now we are following Peter Parker and Miles Morales as they attempt to save the next new addition, The Lizard (Curt Connors), from Kraven’s goons. During the chase, Peter mentions that “Harry’s dying,” and they need Connors’ help, confirming Harry Osbourne’s appearance.

During the presentation, we got to see some awesome gameplay, including tandem gameplay between Peter Parker and Miles Morales, as control goes back and forth between the two. We also were shown new gameplay mechanics, such as Miles’ suit wings allowing him to glide impressive distances, seemingly using air gusts throughout the city and between buildings.
One of the more significant reveals in the PlayStation gameplay trailer is the fact that Peter is wearing a new suit, one we have not seen in the first Spider-Man game — the Symbiote suit. Venom has already been confirmed for the game (and is being voiced by Canyman’s Tony Todd), so now we are seeing how exactly his introduction will play out. The end of the new trailer also shows Peter acting a bit… odd. Genke even asks Miles, “He’s not always like that, is he?”
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is set to release exclusively on the PlayStation 5 later this year. Check out the new trailer below!
