Following its SXSW Film Festival premiere in March 2022, the horror comedy Deadstream was released on the Shudder streaming service in October of that same year. The film is now getting a Walmart-exclusive Steelbook Blu-Ray on July 18, 2023.
Deadstream follows a disgraced internet personality who attempts to win back his followers by livestreaming one night alone in a haunted house. But when he accidentally pisses off a vengeful spirit, his big comeback event becomes a real-time fight for his life. It was written and directed by Vanessa Winter and Joseph Winter. It stars Joseph Winter, Melanie Stone (V/H/S/99, Cupid for Christmas), Jason K. Wixom (Permafrost), and Jeremy Warner (Studio C).

While talking with Nightmare on Film Street, Vanessa Winter and Joseph Winter talked about the house they filmed in and the belief it may really be haunted. Vanessa Winter explained:
“About half the crew was convinced that it was haunted and there were two rooms specifically that people didn’t enjoy being in alone. But I think the funniest part, or the most enjoyable part was- we had a contractor come and secure some of the walls in the house. He was this huge burly dude, and he was just standing on the second floor when we were doing a walk-through, just looking at a bathroom window. He was like, ‘when I was a teenager, we broke into here and I saw a woman standing at that window,’ and he was dead serious.”
