Spider Baby: or, the Maddest Story Ever Told, written and directed by Jack Hill, was released in December 1967 and has since become a cult classic. The film stars Lon Chaney Jr., Carol Ohmart, Quinn Redeker, Beverly Washburn, Jill Banner, and late horror icon Sid Haig. A remake of the film is in production by director Dustin Ferguson and SCS Entertainment. It has been announced that principal photography just wrapped.

The film tells the story of “a pair of greedy relatives that try to repossess the Merrye Estate. But the inbred children protect their home and bloodline at all costs.” The new cast includes Beverly Washburn, Brinke Stevens, Robert Mukes, Ron Chaney, Peter Stickles, Traci Burr, Jennifer Moriarty, and Vida Ghaffari. Original director Jack Hill serves as an executive producer, Erik Anthony Russo is the director of photography, and Jeff Burr is the creative consultant.

According to IMDb, Dustin Ferguson has several horror films currently in the works, including The Party’s Just Begun: The Legacy of Night of The Demons, Mega Ape, Apex Predators 2: The Spawning, and Cheerleader Camp: To the Death. His previously released titles include The Clown Chainsaw Massacre, Beyond the Gates of Hell, Ebola Rex Versus Murder Hornets, Cocaine Cougar, and Hell of the Screaming Undead.
