We are gutted to pass along the news that legendary actor Sid Haig has passed away. The news was revealed by Haig’s wife, Suzie, in a post on Instagram, announcing the actor had passed on Sept. 21 with Suzie by his side. The legend was 80 years old.

From the Instagram post:

On Saturday, September 21, 2019, my light, my heart, my true love, my King, the other half of my soul, Sidney, passed from this realm on to the next. He has returned to the Universe, a shining star in her heavens. He was my angel, my husband, my best friend and always will be. He adored his family, his friends and his fans. This came as a shock to all of us.
We, as a family, are asking that our privacy and time to mourn be respected.

Sidney Eddie Mosesian
7/14/39 – 9/21/19
Husband, Father, Grandfather, Friend.
Goodnight, my love. We will find each other again, next time. I love you.

Haig had recently been admitted to the ICU at the hospital following an accident, and Suzie had asked his fans to pray for him. A following update suggested Haig was on the mend, and his health seemed to be improving. This makes the actor’s passing even more of a shock, but for what it’s worth, it’s a good thing he was able to see just how much he is loved by his family, friends, colleagues, and fans before he left this world.

Certainly, the horror community will always remember Sid Haig best as Captain Spaulding, the murderous clown who first appeared in House of 1000 Corpses. It was a role he got to reprise for The Devil’s Rejects and, more recently, 3 from Hell. Throughout the course of his career, however, Haig appeared in dozens of roles on screen, forever carving a place for the legend in cinema history.

You will be missed. Godspeed, Captain.
