Sid Haig Has ‘Bounced Back Like a Champ’ After His Accident

Last week, The Devil’s Rejects and 3 from Hell star Sid Haig was moved into the ICU at the hospital following an apparent accident. While details were unclear about the accident or Haig’s condition, the actor’s wife Suzie told his fans on Instagram about the accident and asked for prayers. Ever since we’ve all been hoping for some good news, and that has fortunately come this morning in a new post from Suzie on Instagram.

According to Suzie, Haig is now doing very well in his hospital recovery, but things got scary there for a minute. From the Instagram post, here’s the explanation for what’s happened with Sid along with an update on his health:

“I know it’s taken a while, but here’s the quick and dirty. Sid took a nasty spill early last week and went to the ER to make sure everything was ok. It was, but they kept him for a bit for observation. Late last Thursday night he vomited in his sleep. Because he was asleep, the vomit went into his lungs (aspiration). Fortunately, since they were monitoring him, the alarm went off and they were able to get the vomit out and an air tube with suction in. They suctioned his lungs for a couple days and everything came out so they were able to remove the air tube/suction. He’s been breathing well for several days now but they still have to monitor for infection to be safe, since the bacteria in the human gut can set up an infection in the lungs when this happens, and are giving him IV antibiotics to protect him.”

Suzie goes on to describe how Haig “bounced back like a champ,” fighting like a warrior and winning the fight. Clearly, the outlook for Haig is much more positive, and we continue to wish Haig a speedy recovery. Meanwhile, he can be seen once again portraying Captain Spaulding when 3 from Hell plays in theaters from Sept. 16-18 via Fathom Events.
