Long before David Gordon Green decided to continue John Carpenter and Debra Hill’s 1978 Halloween story in 2018, Steve Miner and Robert Zappia lifted the popular horror franchise’s reigns, voided the unnecessary sequels, and picked up the tale 20 years after the first film ended with Halloween H20: 20 Years Later.

While the maligned sequel is often seen as one of the worst in the franchise from both the critics and fans’ perspectives, it’s hard to argue with its uniqueness and its talented cast, which brought Jamie Lee Curtis back to the franchise for the first time since Halloween II in 1981.

The legendary scream queen was joined by several young actors that would eventually grow into megastars, including Josh Hartnett (Oppenheimer), Michelle Williams (The Fabelmans), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Poker Face), and LL Cool J.

The film takes the franchise from Haddonfield, IL, to Summer Glen, California, where Laurie Strode is now the headmistress of a private school that her almost-grown son (Hartnett) attends. Regardless of faking her own death and changing her identity, the two are stalked by Michael Myers, who, after two decades, still wants to murder Laurie Strode.

Though the movie is known for having some of the weirdest dialogue, lamest kills, and one of the oddest-looking Michael Myers masks, no Halloween collection is complete without it, which is why Paramount is releasing a limited-edition Ultra HD 4K SteelBook version in celebration of the 25th anniversary of its release, which was on July 27th, 1998.

The set will include a clear slipover case, and fresh, new art on the front, back, and inside the SteelBook. This anniversary release of Halloween H20: 20 Years Later is available for preorder on Amazon for $30.99 and will become available for purchase on September 26th, 2023.
