Original ‘Child’s Play’ Now Free to Watch on YouTube (Updated)

The original Child’s Play movie from 1988 is currently free to watch on YouTube Movies. For many fans of the killer doll, the first Chucky film is still considered to be among the best of the series.

Starring Catherine Hicks and Alex Vincent, the classic slasher flick follows a single mother gifting her young son with a popular Good Guys doll only for them to later discover it to be possessed with the soul of a demented serial killer. Chris Sarandon also stars as the skeptical detective, Mike Norris, while genre favorite Brad Dourif also stars as the voice of Charles Lee Ray — better known as Chucky.

Directed by Tom Holland, the film is based on a story by Don Mancini, who created the Chucky character. Mancini has stuck with the franchise since working on each screenplay in the series and began directing the films in the series, starting with Seed of Chucky. The writer/director has expanded his Child’s Play universe even more with the Syfy TV series Chucky, must-see television for longtime fans.

Synopsis: When serial killer Charles Lee Ray is mortally wounded in a police shoot-out, he uses a voodoo spell to transfer his soul into Chucky, a “Good Guys” doll. Young Andy receives the doll as a birthday gift, and Chucky soon resumes his killing spree. However, Charles doesn’t want to be trapped in the body of a doll forever. His only escape would be to transfer into the first human he revealed his true identity… which places Andy in mortal danger.
