Family Guy Halloween Special 2024 on Hulu
Hulu

During this week’s San Diego Comic-Con panel, the cast and crew announced an exclusive Family Guy Halloween special. The episode will stream exclusively on Hulu starting Monday, October 14th, and will be the first not to premiere on Fox since 2010.

Glen Powell will appear in the Halloween special as Patrick McCloskey, the current champion of Quahog’s annual Pumpkin Contest. Derek Jacobi (Gosford Park, Gladiator) will voice Rupert, Stewie’s beloved teddy bear. Powell’s most recent film is the Hollywood summer blockbuster Twisters, which co-stars Daisy Edgar-Jones. The legacy sequel grossed more than $100 million domestically.

In the Family Guy Halloween special, Peter (Seth MacFarlane) and his pals will use any method necessary to defeat Patrick McCloskey in their attempt to win the pumpkin contest. The episode will kick off the animated show’s 23rd season and will be the first of two Family Guy holiday specials, the second being a Christmas episode.

This year marks the show’s 25th year on the air, proving it has undoubtedly stood the test of time. To celebrate, the Los Angeles Times interviewed some of the cast and crew, including the show’s creator, Seth MacFarlane, on whether the series will last another 25 years. MacFarlane replied:

“At this point, I don’t see a good reason to stop. People still love it. It makes people happy, and it funds some good causes. It’s a lot of extraneous cash that you can donate to Rainforest Trust, and you can still go out to dinner that night. There was a time when I thought, it’s time to wrap it up.
At this point, we’ve reached escape velocity. I don’t know that there’s any reason to stop at this point unless people get sick of it. Unless the numbers show that people just are, ‘Eh, we don’t care about Family Guy’anymore.’ But that hasn’t happened yet.”
