Summer is coming to a close, so that must mean one thing: it’s time for Fan Expo Canada 2024. From Thursday, August 22nd, until Sunday, August 25th, the event will again take over downtown Toronto at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (255 Front St W, Toronto, ON M5V 2W6). It will combine elements from all the major genres and fandoms for another unforgettable weekend.
One of the biggest draws of Fan Expo Canada is the celebrity lineup. This year’s guest list is stacked with huge names from many fandoms. Star Wars fans are spoiled this year with actors and actresses like Rosario Dawson (Ahsoka, The Mandalorian), Temuera Morrison (The Book of Boba Fett, The Mandalorian), Emily Swallow (The Book of Boba Fett, The Mandalorian), Giancarlo Esposito (The Mandalorian), and Cameron Monaghan (Cal Kestis in the Star Wars: Jedi games). Bryce Dallas Howard will be in attendance as well.
Outside of Star Wars, Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Josh Gad (Frozen), Helen Hunt (Twister), Marisa Tomei (MCU’s Spider-Man franchise), Dolph Lundgren (Rocky IV), Mike Flanagan and Kate Siegel (The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass, Fall of the House of Usher), John Rhys-Davies ( Lord of the Rings), Patrick Warburton (Seinfeld, Family Guy) as well as stars of two Canadian staples Trailer Park Boys and Letterkenny. I said it before and I’ll say it again: some of the best people you can meet at cons are voice actors. The Fan Expo Canada 2024 voice actor guest list is dangerous to my wallet. In attendance will be Star Wars GOAT Dee Bradley Baker (the voice of every clone), Rob Paulsen and Maurice LaMarche (Pinky and the Brain), Jennifer Hale (Mass Effect, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic), Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka Tano), Neil Newbon (Baldurs Gate 3, Resident Evil Village), Charles Martinet (Mario), Maile Flanagan (Naruto), Colleen Clinkenbeard (One Piece’s Monkey D. Luffy), and Christopher Sabat (Vegeta, Roronoa Zoro) among others.

Of course, you can’t have a convention without the ones who started it all: comic creators. This year’s comic guest list is iconic in its own right. Stanley ‘Artgerm’ Lau, Marc Silvestri, Geoff Johns, Scott Snyder, Jason Fabok, Steve McNiven, Ken Lashley, Francis Manapul, Ryan Stegman, and Peter Tomasi are some names fans can meet this weekend.
If celebs and comic creators are on one side of the Fan Expo Canada coin, the other is the vendors and exhibitors hall. In addition to the literal hundreds of vendors and the absolute delight that is the Artists’ Alley, some big names in the industry will be in attendance. Disney will have a booth with some Agatha All Along experiences, Paramount is bringing back their ‘Lodge’ with presences from some of their IPs like Star Trek, and Prime Video is hosting a big push for the upcoming season two of Rings of Power at their booth all weekend long. Companies like Xbox, Hasbro, LEGO, Sparetime, and Squishmallows will also be on the floor.
