Steven Spielberg’s career, much like that of his frequent composing collaborator John Williams, is truly legendary. The films he has created over the years remain etched in our fan-fueled psyche, passed down from generation to generation. They ensure that no one will ever forget his contributions to film and his impact on the world of cinema. One of the most beloved and revered films is 1982’s E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Honest, timeless, and full of heartfelt emotion, the film still holds up today, and I can think of no film more deserving of the live orchestra treatment than this one.
On November 7th and 8th, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial in Concert will be shown at the renowned Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto, Ontario. Conductor Evan Mitchell, who made his debut with this orchestra in February 2012, leads the Toronto Symphony Orchestra in a live musical performance paired with the timeless and heartwarming film.
The iconic score by John Williams, along with the famous songs, touching moments, and thrilling action scenes, will be on stage for everyone to enjoy, lasting two hours and seventeen minutes, including a twenty-minute intermission. Fans can look forward to a truly wonderful evening of music, laughter, tears, and childhood wonder and innocence, making it an event to remember.
