Per a report that appeared on Variety earlier, Stories International – an offshoot of Sega Group – has joined forces with Circle of Confusion (Fear the Walking Dead, Outcast) to produce several movies and TV shows based on classic Sega video games.

Titles currently being thrown around include Streets of Rage and Altered Beast, with House of the Dead, Shinobi and Golden Axe set to follow shortly thereafter. Sadly, no mention was made of a certain speedy blue Hedgehog, but anything is possible.

Tomoya Suzuki, president and CEO of Stories International, has outlined plans to partner with major studios, producers, writers and filmmakers, to adapt these once beloved franchises for distribution around the globe in the hopes that they can breathe life back into the long dead video game movie genre.

Reports that Uwe Boll will come out of retirement to lend a hand remain unsubstantiated.
