Making a fake ID can be tricky. It requires attention to detail to be able to fool the keen eyes of police officers. One thing you should definitely not do, however, is assume the identity of a world-famous cartoon character like Homer Simpson from The Simpsons.
According to Sky News, however, that simple tip was lost on a driver in the UK. In Buckinghamshire, an officer pulled over a driver and asked for identification. He was then presented with an ID that not only features Homer’s name and photo but it even lists his address as “28 Springfield Way, USA.”
Needless to say, the driver was not, in fact, Homer Simpson, so the car was seized. Officers are charging the man for driving without insurance and driving without a proper ID. It should be noted that even the Thames Valley Police finds the story amusing, however, as revealed in a tweet from their official Twitter account.

It seems rather appropriate that the driver used a classic photo of Homer saying, “D’oh!” We can safely assume that the man had the same reaction once the officer informed him the scheme wasn’t going to work. If nothing else, however, at least it gave the Thames Valley Police — and the internet — something to laugh about.
