‘Halloween Kills’ and ‘Halloween Ends’ Announced, What Does it Mean?

Well, it’s official: Michael Myers will be going on two more killing sprees in 2020 and 2021. On Twitter, producer Jason Blum of Blumhouse has confirmed two new Halloween sequels in the works, set to come out over the next two years. The first of the two, Halloween Kills, will be released in 2020, while Halloween Ends will be released the following year. Also noted is the return of the whole gang, including Jamie Lee Curtis, Danny McBride, David Gordon Green, and John Carpenter.

Let the fan speculation begin as to what will happen with the story next. In the end of last year’s Halloween, (SPOILER ALERT!) Michael Myers is led into Laurie Strode’s cellar, which turns out to be a trap. When the building is set ablaze, Michael is presumably burnt to death, though a body is never shown. With these sequels on the way, it’s now safe to assume Michael found some way to escape the burning basement, or at least avoid the flames long enough to survive.

The next sequel is ominously titled as Halloween Kills, teasing some major deaths on the horizon for those in Michael’s path. Who might he be killing this time around? As much as we hate to say it, the death of Laurie Strode would probably have the biggest impact. It’s doubtful she’d go without much of a fight in the opening minutes, similar to how the character as killed in Halloween: Resurrection, but it seems that Laurie and Michael’s feud will finally have to come to a head in the next movie. Considering how Michael will need to return in Halloween Ends, we could be seeing the end of Laurie Strode in Halloween Kills.

So, why kills Laurie Strode, if she’s such a fan favorite character? Well, this would heighten the stakes going into what appears to be the very end of the original timeline. With vengeance in her heart, maybe Laurie’s granddaughter Allyson will be the one to finally put an end to Michael’s murderous madness cone and for all. Perhaps this would be a way to pass the torch to Allyson as the new final girl of the franchise. As this is all just speculation at this point, we’ll have to wait and see.

Halloween Kills will arrive in October 2020 and Halloween Ends will be here the following year in October 2021.
