Is a Tom Hanks as Mister Rogers Funko Pop! the most wholesome Funko Pop! ever? It very well just might be. That seems to be the case when taking a look at one of the latest new additions to Funko’s line of Pop! figures, which is a new version of Mister Rogers from the upcoming film A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. Of course, Hanks plays the legendary TV star in the film, making the new figure part Hanks and part Rogers.
In the trailer and promotional footage for A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, Hanks – as Rogers – is often seen wearing the trademark red cardigan sweater. He can also be seen holding the classic Daniel Tiger hand puppet. So, for the newly-revealed Pop! figure, the character will look as he does in the film. Just recently, Funko also unveiled two variants of new Funko Pop! figures for Steve “The Crocodile Hunter” Irwin, which are also awesomely wholesome. I’m not quite sure where this new wave of wholesome Funko Pop! figures is coming from, but I like it! They’ll match up quite nicely with the previously-released figures for Bob Ross, and we can only hope a Pop! version of Reading Rainbow‘s LaVar Burton is coming up next.
A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood releases in theaters everywhere on Nov. 22, 2019, reintroducing the story of Mister Rogers on the big screen with Tom Hanks as Fred Rogers. You can watch the official trailer for the film below!
