Kevin Bacon Reflects on Rejected ‘Tremors’ TV Series

Syfy passing on a Tremors TV series last year has always bummed horror fans since the news first broke, as none of us can understand their way of thinking in passing up this golden opportunity. The series would have brought back Kevin Bacon as Valentine McKee for the first time since the original film, and the trailer they made for it was insanely awesome. Despite the potential, however, Syfy declined to put in a full series order for Tremors, leaving us to wonder what could have been.

Apparently, Bacon is just as disappointed as the rest of us when it comes to Syfy’s unexplainable decision. Speaking with Variety, Bacon was directly asked if there were any movie universes from the films he’s done that he’d like to return to. In response, Bacon brings up the Tremors pilot he shot for Syfy which was ultimately not picked up, insisting that this was the role he wanted to revisit more than any other from his career.

From the interview:

“I wanted to reboot Tremors, and worked very hard on it, and did a fantastic pilot with Blumhouse. Andrew Miller was the writer of it, and we shot the pilot. I thought it was cool, and Syfy decided not to go forward with it. I liked that character because it was the only character that I really looked at and said, ‘You know, I wanna see where he’s at 25 years later.'”

Though hopeful about the possibility of one day doing the series, Bacon also suggests that it’s not very likely. When pressed if the Tremors TV series could still happen on another network or streaming service, Bacon also had this to say:

“I don’t know the answer to that. I feel like we’ve kind of explored the options, but, listen, you never know. Stranger things have happened.”

Keeping our fingers crossed on this one. To further think about what could have been, you can watch the trailer for the Tremors pilot below.
