Tremors 7 will start shooting next month in Thailand, and series star Michael Gross will once again be back as franchise hero Burt Gummer. Ever since the release of the original film in 1990, Gross has been portraying the now-iconic role, laying waste to countless Graboids in the process. Last year, the actor confirmed he would reprise the role once more in the seventh Tremors movie (dubbed Tremors: Island Fury), though it wasn’t clear when we could expect to see it.
Now, progress appears to be moving along on the sequel, as word is it will start shooting in November. On his official Facebook account, Gross revealed this information while also noting his excitement. “Thirty years ago, I was on location for the original Tremors film and, in a month’s time, will be in Thailand to begin filming Tremors 7,” the actor states in the post before signing off as his character Burt Gummer. Clearly, Gross is just as stoked as the fans of the franchise to see him appear in at least one more film. In an era where nearly every other film series has been rebooted, it’s nice to see the classic horror series still going strong.
As wonderful as this news is, however, it does bring up the sore subject of the ill-fated Tremors TV series with Kevin Bacon. With Bacon reprising the role of Valentine McKee for the first time since the original film, a pilot for a planned TV series was shot for Syfy. Although it seemed like a no-brainer to pick it up, the network actually passed on the series. Meanwhile, the pilot never made its way to television or home video, though a trailer for the failed series would be uploaded to YouTube. You can take a look at that below.
