Now in its fourth season, From on MGM+ explores the idea of people trapped in a town they cannot leave, weaving a complex, mysterious lore that keeps viewers guessing what will happen next. The show’s dark, unsettling tone highlights the evil surrounding the town, which shows no mercy toward its inhabitants. The tension continues to build, and characters are reaching the end of their ropes, both emotionally and physically, which leads to some desperate decisions.
However, it’s the characters that drive this show, a testament to the writing, the actors, and the collaborative atmosphere cultivated throughout. Catalina Sandino Moreno plays Tabitha, who, as we see in Season 4, has been hit hard with grief and despair and is now struggling to keep it together. We talked with Moreno about her character, the horrific mental struggles she has faced and continues to face, and what it’s like to work with the cast.
When asked how enjoyable it has been to play Tabitha and explore the character’s arc, Moreno smiled from ear to ear. “I love it, just love it. Not just the character they wrote for me, but the collaboration with the writer, the collaboration with the director. It’s a bunch of things that make your life enjoyable to play this character. She goes from highs to lows, she finds out this crazy thing that she’s a reincarnation of Miranda, and now we start this season finding out about the death of her husband. Having two children at home, trying to take care of them, not making the right decisions, making the wrong decisions.”

She continued, “She’s a very complex character, and that’s what I love about this show. Every character on this show is very complex; there is no one character where you think, whatever. If you go deep, these characters have roots, have a base, and are behaving in a way that makes sense for who they are, where they are. Once we’re all together, it just makes sense, and I love characters like that. I love collaborating with my actors, directors, and writers to make this even better.
Tabitha has been on an emotional rollercoaster throughout the first three seasons of From, and now more so in Season 4. When asked whether this was challenging as an actor, going through these emotional highs and lows, Moreno responded, “I love it, it’s what makes me feel alive. I love the genre of drama, and script-wise, I always lean to that side of writing. When you are in a horror show and able to do these kinds of moments, it’s really nice for me. I really enjoy them and work on them, so it’s been great.”

While it’s true that the town’s mysteries and the lore have sparked intriguing ideas and speculation, there can be no denying that the characters are the ones who have captured the audience’s attention. When asked what it’s been like to work with this cast for four years, Moreno was quick to mention how fortunate they were.
She explained, “Yeah, I think we’re lucky. Lucky to have found good actors, nice people, great collaborators, because you’re not doing this alone, you’re doing it with everybody. The people behind the camera are so important, too, because they make your life easier.”
She continued, “Also, no one is difficult on this show, which has been a luxury to have. I’ve worked on movies and TV shows where someone is difficult, and it disrupts everything. We haven’t had that here. Everyone is just so relaxed and so excited to be part of this show; we’re very lucky.”
We asked whether there was a moment or scene in Season 4 that she found disturbing or that made her wonder how fans would react. She told us, “There are a few moments, yes. Moments where I feel the fans are not going to like my character for what I am doing. The fans are going to be surprised overall, but a lot of things are, yeah… they are going to hate me at this moment.”

She continued, “There are moments, though, where I thought, are we doing this for ourselves or are we doing this for the fans? So we just kept the story like it was, and we can deal with the fans. The fans who love the show, when it comes time, there is no explanation; it’s just what it is. But I have had a couple moments where I’ve read something, and thought, ok, we’ll see.”

Great read! Really pulling for Tabitha this season. And I suspect Jim will be back
