I’ll be honest, I wasn’t going to get the PS VR when all the hype was coming. Mainly because of the price, but partly thinking that the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift already had the market. However, when it came to release day, the geek inside me came out in me, like a Xenomorph did to Kane in Alien. Got to say, it was a purchase very well made.

I’ll look to cover some of the VR content that’s currently available. One thing I will say, YouTube videos do not do the PS VR justice, if you get the chance to try it, please do. There has been plenty of talk about how tricky the kit is to set up. I’ll agree that it was a bit fiddly, but the guide to setting it up that comes in the box, is spot on and will get you up and running in about 15 minutes. A problem some people have, is lens fogging. I’ve experienced this, but only for about 10 minutes. Once the headset is acclimatised to your body temperature, you’ll not need to keep wiping the lens every so often. Let’s take a look at these PS VR games, shall we?

Batman VR
PS VR

Rejoice comic fans, you can to step into Bruce Wayne’s shoes and don the famous cowl. For the price, this is a great game. Graphically looks stunning and follows in the same theme as the Arkham series we know and love. There’s no fighting, mainly a puzzle solving experience, enhanced by the PS move controllers. If you own a VR, it’s worth the price.

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes

PS VRThis is a fantastic two-player game, which does rely on communication skills to complete the levels. The person with the headset on, can see the bomb, move it around and has to defuse it. The other person, is looking at the instruction manual on how to defuse it. You have 5 minutes to defuse the bomb, and it’s really not as easy as it sounds!

Playstation VR Worlds
PS VRA collection of games, which can feel more like a demo, but it’s main purpose is to show off what the VR can do. You can go deep sea cage diving, take on the London mob, luge through traffic, control a mech in space and play a futuristic version of pong. It’s a great collection for the price, well worth considering.

Driveclub VR
PS VRAs you suspect, it’s a VR adaptation of the popular driving sim. You’re in the driving seat of a supercar, going full tilt around the track. If you want to check your blind-spot, do it as you would in real life. The only issue I had with this was a bit of motion sickness for the first few laps. After I got used to it, that wasn’t a problem at all…my driving was mind, but not the sickness. Driving game fans will love this.

Tumble VR
PS VRQuirky little puzzle game, with a computerised dialogue of Portal. Lots of challenges and a good game to get you used to virtual reality. It starts off simple, then the narrator will begin to pick on you!

Rigs – Mechanized Combat League
PS VRFast paced sports game, that I reckon will become the next big eSport. Team based combat, where once you blast the other team to pieces. Once you’ve charged up, you need to make a beeline for the goal and jump in it. Sounds strange that you are the player, as well as the ball. Trust me, it works like a treat.

Playroom VR
PS VRAnother one that you get with the device. Collection of mini games, mostly multiplayer. It’s again more a showcase of what the PS VR can do. There’s a fun platformer and a old fashioned claw machine. The multiplayer aspects see you be a dragon and a cat. Both hilarious and fun.

That’s just a snapshot of what’s out for the VR. New stuff is coming out constantly for it so the support is definitely there. Hopefully this might have answered any PS VR questions you have. Despite the cost, personally, it is worth it. It’s only going to get better.
