Filming has begun in Vancouver on the new Predator movie, and to celebrate the fact, the film’s director, Shane Black, tweeted a photo via his official account, introducing us to some of the cast.
Partial cast… beautiful human beings, good people. Also, killers. Cameras roll today. Follow me on Twitter for updates. Wish us luck. pic.twitter.com/vYGgGesW0Y

As you can see, the tweet shows cast members Sterling K Brown (Black Panther), Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight), Boyd Holbrook (Logan), Olivia Munn (X-Men Apocalypse), Keegan-Michael Key (Keanu) and Jacob Tremblay (Room), in full costumed, posturing mode. Black, who memorably starred in the original Predator alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger, also appears in the photo, not unlike Phil Lord and Chris Miller did in the recent Han Solo cast shot.
Reaction to the image has been very mixed so far, with fans complaining that the cast just don’t “look the part,” no doubt recalling how bad ass Black and his co-stars looked in the 1987 movie. There have also been more than a few complaints about the decision to include a child in the movie, but let’s not forget the importance of children in films of a similar ilk. Remember how key the character of Newt was in Aliens? If anybody proved kids can hold their own in this kind of film it was her!. Either that or he’s fodder for a spine ripping, which would be equally awesome.
The film itself is believed to be set in the suburbs, which may explain the less than battle grizzled cast, and will feature a new breed of hunter that stands a staggering 10 feet tall. The thought of that alone is enough to make a grown man cry! Black is keeping many of the other details to themselves, but he has gone on record to state that the film will indeed be R rated, because “PG-13 is for pussies.” God bless you, Shane.
And, just to be clear… PG-13 is for pussies. Spines bleed… a lot.

Black will direct a script by Fred Dekker of The Monster Squad and Night of the Creeps, and the movie is expected to land in cinemas February 9, 2018.
