Tomorrow, May 6th, is Free Comic Book Day! It is an annual event held in comic shops all across the nation on the first Saturday of every May. It’s a celebration of comic book culture, and many shops participate by bringing in various creators, having costume contests, and even doing awesome giveaways!
Of course the main draw is the free comics, and this year there’s 50 titles to choose from. The free comics range from kids books, to Marvel and DC superhero comics, and even some darker indie titles. Free Comic Book Day really is an all-ages event, and is for anyone who loves to read comics.
One of the main reasons for the existence of Free Comic Book Day is to get customers into the shops. Brick and mortar comic shops are a tough business to succeed in, and every sale matters. So if you’re heading in to pick up some cool free stuff this weekend, please look around and make some purchases as well. Help your local shop keep its lights on!
