Fans were thrilled back in January when Guillermo del Toro promised to talk with Hellboy actor Ron Perlman and comic creator Mike Mignola about a third installment to the series.

Only to be let down when del Toro later confirmed that the film definitely wouldn’t happen.

However, it seems that the Hellboy roller coaster isn’t done yet. Mike Mignola, the comic book artist and writer who created the Hellboy series for Dark Horse Comics, shared this on his social media today:

That’s right, folks! A Hellboy reboot is going to happen. Probably. Neil Marshall, who directed the projects listed above, as well as one of the best werewolf films of all time, Dog Soldiers, is set to direct. David Harbour, who played the fantastic role of Jim Hopper in Stranger Things, will replace Perlman as Hellboy.

There is no doubt that fans will have a strong reaction to getting a new film without del Toro or Ron Perlman, but perhaps the premise of a reboot with such a talented lead actor and director will be enough to satisfy. Let us know if what you think of the news below or on social media!
