According to a report via SyFy.com, someone close to a crew member on the soon-to-be realised Batgirl movie, has leaked the names of several actresses in contention for the role.

Take this news with a pinch of salt, but according to Reddit sub-group DCEU Leaks, one of the concept artists who has been working on artwork depicting each of the names below in the Batgirl costume, made the mistake of showing them to his buddy, who then went on to release them to the world. Not the smartest move in the world, and let’s hope no one finds out his or her name, or it’s game over for them.

So, which famous names are lined up to don the cape and cowl of Joss Whedon’s next big, post Justice League project?

Well first up, there’s Katherine Langford. Langford will be most familiar to many of us as the lead character in 13 Reasons Why. According to SyFy, Langford is Whedon’s top pick for the role.

The second name linked to Batgirl is The Neon Demon’s Elle Fanning. Fanning, who is the younger sister of Dakota, certainly has that classic femme fatale appearance that could lend itself to this iconic role, whereas Jane Levy, the third name linked to the role, is far less conventional and as we’ve seen from her turns in the Evil Dead remake and the latest Twin Peaks series, has all the screen presence required to stand alongside the giants of the DC Movie Universe.

Other names listed under the maybe category were Margaret Qualley (The Nice Guys), Olivia Cooke (Ouija), Naomi Scott (Power Rangers) and Haley Lu Richardson (Split). Personally, this writer would go with Cooke, she has the right mix of innocence and ass kicker to pull it off, but that’s just my opinion.

Like we said at the kick off, take this with a pinch of salt. We’ve all been burned before on these kinds of rumors. It’s entirely possible that none of these names will be cast.

As far as we know, Warner Bros. and DC want to reveal the actual actress playing Batgirl later this month at San Diego Comic-Con. We’ll keep you posted.
