What do you get when you cross the executive producer of Family Guy, with some of the minds behind Forrest Gump and Castaway? Well Warner Bros. hopes the answer will be the next best live-action sitcom on television, a fresh spin on the classic animated series The Jetsons.

Based on the beloved 1960’s animated Hanna-Barbera cartoon, The Jetsons TV show, will be set 100 years in the future, and will offer the same comedic slant on life in Astro City, where flying cars are the norm, and domestic robots are sassy.

According to sources close to TVline, the show will be shepherded by Family Guy executive producer Gary Janetti, with Robert Zemeckis, Jack Rapke and Jackie Levine all on board in executive roles. The project, which will be shot in the multi-cam style, is still very much in the development stages and has yet to find itself a permanent network home. We can’t see that being a problem though, considering the show’s pedigree.

Where this news leaves the long talked about Jetsons CGI movie reboot is anybody’s guess, but as the series will not be animated, it’s likely the two can exist simultaneously.

Are you ready for a live-action Jetsons? How well will George, Jane, Elroy, Judy, Rosie, Astro and Mr. Spacely translate for a modern audience? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
