The long lived beat ’em up series Tekken is coming soon to a mobile device near you. Although there’s no confiemed release date, you can pre-register for iOS and Android devices. If you’re reading this from Canada, you’ll be happy to know that Tekken is already available to play right now.

The game uses a mixture of swipe and tap controls for combos, similar to most mobile fighting games. Players will collect Waza Cards, which can be used during the fight to pull off some epic moves. The cards combined with skill progression give you a wider way to customize your character’s play-style. Given that you’ll have access to over 100 characters on release day, you’ll not be short for choice.

The customization system is clearly geared for online play, allowing players to enter challenges via a Dojo mode. There are plans of real-time events in the works. Tekken also features a story mode where you can team up with three other players and help character stories that were written exclusively for the mobile outing.

Given that Mortal Kombat and Injustice: Gods Among Us are already available via mobile, I’m surprised that Tekken has taken this long to get developed by Bandai Namco. But, better late than never. The game will be free to play on both iOS and Android.

Check out the trailer below and let us know if you’re excited to unleash some combos on your device!
