Friday the 13th: The Game fans have been anxiously awaiting the new content announced for release on October 13th. However, Gun Media and IllFonic surprised everyone by releasing the update two days ahead of schedule. So, let’s take a look at what’s new!
New Jason
Players can now take on the role of Jason Voorhees from 1984’s Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, which is also known as Part IV. He has his own stats and a gruesome new weapon, the “Pig Splitter,” along with a “Chop Suey” kill. As with every Jason released so far, the mask and details are dead on (pun intended).
New Map
Along with Jason from The Final Chapter, players can now explore the map from the film. It includes the Jarvis Residence and the vacation house as the central areas.

Weather
Playing as a counselor and running from Jason as he’s chasing you through the woods while you’re practically defenseless can get your adrenaline going. Now, the experience will be even intense with the addition of rain. This has been an update I’ve been excited about since the game launched!
New Counselor
Mitch Floyd, who was inspired by Chuck, Friday the 13th Part III’s pot-smoking hippie, is the newest camp counselor. While luck, speed, and strength aren’t his strong suits, he’ll have no problem keeping his composure, repairing, and being a bit stealthy.
All of the above updates mentioned will be free for all players on all platforms. If that wasn’t enough good news, there are still a few things to come on October 13th:
Physical Copies
Friday the 13th: The Game will have physical copies available in stores. The physical copy will be packaged with an exclusive “Bloody Jason” skin, which will be available for all playable Jasons.
Emote Pack
Want to communicate without a mic or without talking? Want to bust a move before getting slaughtered? Then you’re in luck! Emotes and dance moves are coming our way. Soon, the camp will be filled with Part IV Jasons and Tiffanys in small bikinis dancing like a fool. The Party Pack will be available for $1.99.
Double XP
Rack up those points all weekend long with Double XP Weekend. Of course, that isn’t as exciting when you accidentally run over Tommy Jarvis…oops.

Along with the content, there will be fixes for known issues implemented as well. This should all make for a fun time at camp. Enjoy, counselors and killers!
Listen to a special Friday the 13th edition episode of The Horror Geek Podcast this Friday.
