Game company Square Enix revealed a ton of awesome trailers and gameplay footage during their E3 2018 conference. Included in the games showcased were the much anticipated Kingdom Hearts 3, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and Just Cause 4. Check them all out below!
1Kingdom Hearts 3
We saw a fantastic trailer for Kingdom Hearts 3 back in July 2017 at the D23 Expo that featured the game’s Toy Story world. The trailer from E3 2018 shows us extended gameplay, as well as more Disney/Pixar worlds and characters to be featured, including Frozen, Monsters, Inc., Hercules, Tangled, Ratatouille, and others.
Kingdom Hearts 3 comes out on January 29, 2019 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
2Just Cause 4
Announced at E3 was the open-world action game, Just Cause 4. Players take on the role of protagonist Rico Rodriguez once again as he fights against a private army called “The Black Hand.” It is definitely the first, and perhaps last, time we’ve ever witnessed someone flying through a huge cyclone with a wingsuit.
Just Cause 4 comes out on December 4, 2018 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
3Shadow of the Tomb Raider
We are getting the final piece of Lara Croft’s origin story in the upcoming Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Square Enix revealed extended gameplay in addition to a trailer revealed by Microsoft during their E3 conference. It shows us the game’s darker tone and its reliance on more stealthy maneuvers.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider comes out on September 14, 2018 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
4Final Fantasy XIV / Monster Hunter World Crossover
Square Enix gave us a glimpse of the upcoming crossover between their massive MMO, Final Fantasy XIV, and the hit game, Monster Hunter: World. The new content will be delivered via patch 4.3 for Final Fantasy XIV’s expansion,”Stormblood.” Beyond the teaser, we don’t know many other details at this time.
The free DLC comes out this summer.
5Octopath Traveler
We got a teaser for the upcoming Nintendo Switch game, Octopath Traveler. The demo version that accompanied the original announcement won fans over for its Japanese RPGs, but the devs had to make some changes to its combat style and movement speed after feedback.
Octopath Traveler comes out on September 14, 2018 for Nintendo Switch.
6Nier Automata: Become as Gods Edition
The 2017 action-RPG game Nier Automata is coming to Xbox after being released on PlayStation 4 and PC. Titled Nier Automata: Become as Gods Edition, it will be bundled with all of its existing DLC.
Nier Automata: Become as Gods Edition comes out on June 26, 2018 for Xbox One.
7The Quiet Man
Undoubtedly the strangest trailer we saw from Square Enix was for The Quiet Man. About 35 seconds of the trailer is live action and shows that the protagonist is deaf. He stands in an alleyway, face to face with a couple of gangsters when it cuts to animated fights. It’ll be interesting to learn more later this summer.
A release date for The Quiet Man is still TBA, but we do know it will be for the PlayStation 4 and PC.
8The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit
The most touching trailer presented was for The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit, which exists within the Life is Strange universe. It takes us on a kid’s imaginative adventures, with a lonely boy named Chris at the helm. There will be introductions to characters from Life is Strange 2, which is currently in development.
The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit will be free to play on June 26, 2018 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
9Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age has been a hit in Japan and is now coming to North America and Europe. This new story trailer features more of the game’s beautiful world, Lotozetasia, and shows off Akira Toriyama’s iconic art style.
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age comes out on September 4, 2018 for PlayStation 4 and PC.
10Babylon’s Fall
The upcoming Babylon’s Fall is from PlatinumGames, the creators of Bayonetta and Nier: Automata. The teaser doesn’t reveal too much, basically a burnt map showing a timeline and mysterious warriors battling it out. More details to come soon, we hope.
Babylon’s Fall is coming out in 2019 for PlayStation 4 and PC.
