For the toy collectors out there, San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) has already been amazing this year. We’re seen awesome new Pop! figures from Funko and even some amazing action figures of The Golden Girls. Now, for the Nintendo fans, Mattel is giving you a reason to start buying Hot Wheels toys again!
Officially debuted at SDCC, the Mario Kart Hot Wheels will be hitting store shelves in the summer of 2019. Featuring characters as seen in the Mario Kart video games, eight Nintendo racers will be joining Mattel’s Hot Wheels line. Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, Yoshi, Bowser, Wario, and Rosalina will all be available to separately purchase. Additionally, Mattel is planning on producing Mario Kart-themed Hot Wheels tracks as well.

Currently, there’s no word on if more characters, such as Donkey Kong or Dry Bones, will be added in the future. But one would assume if these sell well, more characters could be joining the Hot Wheels line as well. Individually, the racers will sell at $5 a piece, but it remains to be seen if any combo packs will be made available.
That’s not the only awesome Mario Kart news coming out of SDCC. Also announced is a free new update for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe which adds Link from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild as a playable racer.
