A few months ago, Funko made an announcement via Twitter that they would be attending Fan Expo Canada in Toronto for their first time. Not only will be their first time at Fan Expo, but this momentous occasion also marks their first time exhibiting in Canada! As a Canadian Funko collector, I can hardly contain the excitement, making it very hard to stay patient for the Expo, which takes place from August 30 – September 2.
Now, Funko has officially announced the exclusive figures they will unveil at the show, which are very Canadian and very awesome! American collectors need not fret, as most of the Fan Expo Canada 2018 Funko exclusives will actually be shared in the U.S as well.
At Emerald City Comic Con, Funko unveiled a new series called Pop! Myths, debuting two Bigfoot Pop! figures. For their Canadian exclusives, Bigfoot got another makeover, now covered in snow and carrying an ice cream cone. He will be available on the Funko Shop sometime around the con.
Fans of Rocky and Bullwinkle won’t want to miss Dudley Do-Right, the silent titular hero of “Dudley Do-Right of the Mounties,” a segment on the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show. Dudley is limited to 3,000 pieces and is exclusive to the convention, as well as the Canadian wholesaler Grosnor.
Fan Expo Canada will also get two very awesome exclusive Pop! figures from two very popular movies. Lucas Lee, one of the Seven Evil Exes from Scott Pilgrim vs. the World will finally be immortalized in Funko form. This makes sense as a Canadian exclusive, as the movie was shot and set in Toronto. Is that a stretch? Maybe.
Next up is Marty McFly from Back To The Future, rocking out on his guitar from the first film. Michael J. Fox is very much Canadian and will actually be a guest at Fan Expo Canada, so it’ll be a perfect time to get it signed as well. The Pop! will be available outside of the convention at FYE stores.
Auston Matthews, who plays center for the Toronto Maple Leafs, has gotten the Funko treatment and will be exclusive to Fan Expo Canada and also sold through Grosnor. Also showcased is the Gyro Attack Mega Man 8-bit Funko Pop!, which glows in the dark. GameStop/EB Games will be getting this Pop! as well.
The single Rock Candy exclusive is one of The Doctor’s best companions, Amy Pond. This will also be available and Books-A-Million and Barnes and Noble.
I’ve been saving the best for last – RUSH! The best band to come out of Canada has gotten their own Pop! fugures, and to make things even better, it’s a 3-pack. These will be one of the rarer exclusives, as it’s only available at the convention.
And, finally, one of the most Canadian movies ever would have to be 1983’s Strange Brew. This last exclusive is a two-pack Vynl of Bob and Doug McKenzie, another must-have collectible that is exclusive to the convention.
For Funko’s very first time exhibiting at a Canadian con, this is a darn good lineup, and there are quite a few items here that I’ll definitely be lining up to get. Are you heading to Fan Expo? Are any of these Fan Expo Canada 2018 Funko exclusives a must-have for you? Sound off in the comments!
