Spider-man

The new Spider-Man game for Playstation 4 was released this week, and it’s already making some noise. Reviews are generally all positive, with many gamers saying it’s the best Spidey video game yet. The insane graphics and strong gameplay are certainly its biggest selling points, but sometimes, it’s the little things that make the most difference.

Case in point. With this game incorporating New York City as Spidey’s playground, there are many real-life landmarks which can be discovered by players. Easter eggs are obviously abound, but for fans of the horror genre and/or ’80s cinema, there’s one particular building which will definitely be appreciated.

In Ghostbusters, the titular specter-hunting crew has their headquarters stationed in an unused firehouse. The structure, called the Hook & Ladder Company 8 building in real life, is located in New York. Of course, every Ghostbusters fan who knows this will be searching for the firehouse first thing when playing the game, and many have already found it.

Spider-Man gives players the ability to take selfies in character as the world-famous webslinger.  Some of these photos are now popping up online with Spidey striking a pose in front of the familiar location, which is very recognizable in the game – all it’s missing is the iconic logo. The level of detail is amazing, and for a brief moment, you might forget this is Spider-Man and think you’re playing Ghostbusters.

Players have also found an additional Easter egg to the films in the game as well. If you traverse to the back of the building, you can see graffiti of a cartoon ghost on the wall. While it doesn’t look exactly like the ghost from the Ghostbusters logo (licensing issues and all), it’s a close enough representation that the reference is very clear.
